Softball announcements:   updated: May 12, 2011

CHIN STRAPS: All competitive softball helmets must have chin straps to appease our insurance gods. Please check all helmets and communicate with coaches who will be working with Equipment Director, Dave Yerly.

Cal Ripken tournament and square-around bunting/hitting:
Because Cal Ripken allows girls to square around to bunt and then take a full swing in tournament play, we would like all coaches to ask parents to get mouth guards and consider face masks for 3rd, and 1st base, and pitcher. Please talk this over with the kids and parents who are most likely to play summer ball. The South Shore League does not allow anyone to square around and then swing.

-Tim Carroll, Director, Softball Programs
